Curricular Support

The WCC partners with faculty across disciplines to strengthen writing and communication instruction without adding to your workload. Our curricular support includes assignment prompt reviews, classroom visits, feedback and grading consultations, and AI navigation support, all tailored to the needs of your course, discipline, and students.

Writing & Communication Canvas Modules

The WCC offers Canvas modules that can be imported directly into your course. These modules support a variety of communication-intensive assignments, including writing for proposals, literature reviews, presentations and more. Faculty are welcome to import modules directly into their Canvas courses. Grading assistance is available through the WCC. These modules support S&T's Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) initiative.

Bring the WCC to your classroom! Visits can be as simple as a brief introduction to WCC services or a full, customized workshop on writing, public speaking, or communication skills tailored to your course and students.

The WCC works one-on-one with faculty to develop effective, sustainable approaches to feedback and grading. Consultations can address responding to student writing, designing rubrics, streamlining feedback practices, and adapting assessment strategies in the age of generative AI.

The WCC offers workshops and instructional sessions designed around the writing and communication needs of faculty and their students. Topics can include assignment design, feedback and grading, generative AI, writing pedagogy, and other challenges related to teaching writing and communication across disciplines.
