Writing a thesis, dissertation, or publication-ready manuscript is a major undertaking. The WCC provides focused editing support for advanced academic writing at any stage of the process.

Because no one should have to thesis alone.

How the Service Works

Submit up to 20 pages of your thesis, dissertation, or publication manuscript through the WCC’s graduate editing service. A Graduate Writing Coach will review the submission and return the document to you via email. Please allow at least one week for review.

For documents longer than 20 pages, select the section that would benefit most from focused attention. The feedback you receive can also help you recognize and revise similar patterns elsewhere in your manuscript.

The WCC works closely with the Graduate School to maintain current thesis and dissertation templates and formatting resources. Graduate students can use these materials to begin their documents with the appropriate structure and formatting already in place, reducing the need for extensive formatting changes later in the process.

Our Graduate Writing Coaches can also review submitted pages with thesis and dissertation requirements in mind and help writers identify formatting or consistency issues before final submission.

Preparing research for publication often requires a different kind of revision than writing for a course or completing a thesis or dissertation. Graduate students may submit portions of journal articles and other scholarly manuscripts for editing as they prepare their work for submission.

Coaches can focus on readability, organization, academic style, and consistency while helping writers prepare a polished manuscript that remains distinctly their own work.

Because this service is designed to support writers—not replace them—our coaches may identify recurring issues, explain edits, and recommend strategies rather than copyedit an entire thesis, dissertation, or manuscript line by line.
